Words and Pictures - Creative Writing for Kids
by Georgie Donaghey
Calling all budding authors!
Is your child the next JK Rowling or Andy Griffiths?
Georgie Donaghey is an internationally published children’s author and Sutherland Shire local. She is the founder of Creative Kids Tales and ex-host of The Author’s Shelf.
Last school holidays I ran sold-out workshops at Kogarah and Hurstville Libraries. In August I’m bringing my workshop to Sutherland Library.
See how words and pictures come together in this 2-hour workshop for children aged 7 - 12.
Workshop includes:
- The story arc and structure
- Creating characters, story maps and plots
- Techniques to help develop writing skills
- Writing prompts - exploring the senses
- How to hook your reader
- Fun, creative exercises to help children explore their writing aspirations
It’s about having fun and supporting the authors of tomorrow.
I’ve found that even reluctant writers come out of their shell in a group of peers who love to write. This is often reflected in their school work as an added bonus.
